Huffington wows the Emerge crowd at 6th annual event

Arianna Huffington addressed a crowd of more than 400 Emerge friends and supporters, Program Members, Alumnae, Board and Advisory Board members, elected officials, and founding funders, all of whom came together to celebrate our work and commitment to train and inspire the next generation of Democratic women leaders to run for office.  

It was delightful to see such a beautiful and diverse crowd and we'd like to thank all of you who attended and made this year's event a smashing success!

Welcome to the new CA Alumnae!

On Saturday, June 19th, friends and family gathered to celebrate the 20 women in this year's class and their successful completion of the Emerge California program.   

Keynote speakers included Assemblywoman Fiona Ma and Chairwoman of the Board of Equalization, Betty Yee.  

This year's class has added yet another layer of warmth, beauty, intelligence, integrity, and compassion to the strong vibrant and growing sisterhood that is Emerge California.

Alumnae Updates

Julie Lind (08) is now the Political Director/Assistant Executive Officer of the San Mateo Central Labor Council.

Angela Bruce-Raeburn (08) just spent a month volunteering in Haiti, working with a rural community to facilitate the re-opening of a school that suffered damage as a result of the earthquake, brought medical supplies and is now working on creating a fund to help the people directly in Haiti.

Marily Mondejar (06) has been selected by the API Joint Legislative Caucus to receive the "API Heritage Award for Excellence in Civil Rights" for 2010. Marily was nominated by California Assemblywoman and Speaker pro Tempore Fiona Ma for her work in domestic violence and Filipina women's rights and empowerment with our organization, the Filipina Women's Network.Every year, the API Joint Legislative Caucus observes API Heritage Month by honoring prominent APIs who have achieved in their respective fields and contributed to the API community.
