Liz Brisson loves cities and public transportation. She leads the Major Corridors Planning team
at the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, charged with the creation of fast,
reliable, and frequent Muni service by planning major new rail and bus corridor investments. Liz
project manages the Geary Rapid Project, which aims to improve transit reliability and improve
pedestrian safety on the heavily travelled 38 Geary/38 Geary Rapid corridor, which carries over
54,000 riders/day. In her ten years of public service, Liz has also previously worked for the San
Francisco County Transportation Authority and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.
Liz is active in transportation advocacy in Oakland. In 2014, she co-founded Transport Oakland,
achieving the organization’s founding goal of creating Oakland’s first Department of
Transportation (OakDOT) less than two years later. She also serves on the Alameda County
Transportation Commission’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and AC Transit’s
Parcel Tax Fiscal Oversight Committee.
Liz holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Organizational Studies from the
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning from
the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She lives in Oakland with her husband Chris and
their dog Rufus.
