Read moreHaving worked since the age of 16 and throughout her entire time in college, Consuelo Martinez has accumulated experience in banking, legal, and the nonprofit industries. Consuelo is passionate about social justice and her community. A former appointed Commissioner for the City of Escondido’s Community Services Commission, Consuelo has also served in various leadership capacities for numerous nonprofit and political organizations throughout San Diego County.
She currently resides in Escondido, CA in the home that she grew up in. Born in Santa Ana, CA to Mexican immigrant parents, Consuelo was the first in her family to obtain a college degree Martinez holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Political Science – Global Concentration and Women’s Studies from California State University San Marcos. Consuelo’s dream is to create a resource center in Escondido that would serve the diverse needs of its community. In her free time, Consuelo enjoys meditation, the arts, reading, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Last year Consuelo ran for public office in for Escondido’s first city council district election. Although she was shy only 69 votes from being elected, she continues to give back to the city and community that she grew up in.
