Read moreI grew up in Los Angeles. I was in the eighth grade when the September 11th attacks occurred. That day changed my life forever. After that day all I wanted to do was to work for a better world. In college, I studied Political Science and Communication. After graduating, I worked at the Annenberg Innovation Lab to research new teaching methods for LAUSD teachers. I then flew across the country to work on the Obama campaign. I worked my way up to a field organizer in one of the toughest swing counties in Virginia. After we won by a landslide, I stayed in D.C. and interned in congress. I wanted to get a more complex view of education policy. I finished the training for TFA, however, my brother lost his battle with cancer, and I spent two months with him and the rest of my family before he passed away. I didn’t have the heart to leave my family so I decided to stay with my family in L.A. Since then I have started a business called ZZbabies, which sells cultural baby clothing. A portion of the profits goes to schools in need, from which the cultural clothing represents.
