Allegra is an educator and school reformer.  She has opened new high schools and turned around a failing high school which became one of the district’s top performing schools.

Community Development Block Grant Commission

Mary Alex now lives in Charlottesville, VA where she recently graduated from the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at the University of Virginia. She teaches at Sweet Briar College’s School of Business and has her own consulting boutique firm (globalcapacityconsulting.com). Her past clients include organizations in the areas of human rights, prevention of human-trafficking, and amelioration of HIV/AIDS around the world. She sits on the Board of directors for the Farm Team of Central VA. 

Stacey is an educational advocate, with a focus on inclusion of children with disabilities in schools and communities. She served as VP of Education on the Palo Alto PTA Council.
She is an elected delegate for Assembly district 21, is on the Advisory Board of Palo Alto Partners in Education, on the Palo Alto Parks and Recreation Commission, Palo Alto Community Advisory Committee for Special Education, and on the board of Magical Bridge, a fully accessible playground for people of all abilities. Stacey is an independent User Experience consultant in Silicon Valley.

Higher education is the foundation of creating a developed, productive society, and it often begins in community college. My own experiences in community college and higher education sparked my passion for education policy and civic involvement.This passion ultimately led me to obtain my Ph.D., to tutor and mentor students, to teach at a university level, and to develop high-standard curricula.

Aspen Baker is the leading voice in the nation on the personal experiences of women post-abortion.  It was Ms. Baker's own experience with abortion in 1999 that led her to found Bay Area-based Exhale, an award-winning pro-voice organization dedicated to creating a more supportive and respectful social climate around abortion.  Exhale"s unique programs reach more than 35,000 women every year and our pro-voice strategies create a more supportive and respectful abortion dialogue.

As the daughter of an immigrant Father and Mother who grew up in East Los Angeles, my Mexican parents instilled in me the importance of family, the value of hard work, the necessity of completing my education,  and then giving back to my community.  They also encouraged me to believe in myself and my abilities.  So, I completed my AA degree and then went on to receive my BA in Political Science at Sonoma State University in 1994.  I achieved this while working full-time and putting myself through school.

Margot Biehle is a community activist and lawyer. She is a founding Board member of Emerge California, and currently serves on the Executive Committees of the Sierra Club (Marin Group) and the Marin Environmental Housing Collaborative.Margot currently serves as General Counsel to Project FROG, a startup that designs high performance green building systems.

San Jose Planning Commission

Edesa Bitabdal is the Intergovernmental Affair representative for the San Jose Redevelopment Agency (SJRA). She has been working with state and local legislatures to not only prevent further reductions but also to restore funding to the SJRA. In addition, she has been a project manager for the Façade Improvement Program, managing grants for small business owners out of a total budget of $6 million. Also, she has been a Board member of the Democratic Activist for Women Now (DAWN) organization whose mission is to elect Democratic women into public office.

San Francisco Redevelopment Agency Commission; San Francisco District 5 Supervisor

London Breed is the Executive Director of the African American Art & Culture Complex (AAACC) in San Francisco. Under London's leadership, the AAACC has become one of the most renowned and progressive institutions of African centered cultural expression in the Bay Area.  Currently, she serves as a Commissioner for the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency and as a delegate to the California State Democratic Central Committee. London is a member of a host of political organizations including SFWPC, NWPC, NAACP, and the African American Democratic Club.

Farah Brelvi was a co-founding Board member of Muslim Advocates, the first national 501(c)3 organization of Muslim lawyers promoting equality, liberty and justice for all.  She is a Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the ACLU of Northern California, where she chairs the Legislative Policy Committee.  She is also on the Board of the Center for Justice and Accountability, a legal non-profit that seeks accountability for torture surivivors through the US justice system and was previously the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Amnesty International USA.  A graduate of Yale Univerisity an

Christine Bronstein is the founder of A Band of Wives a social network and information website for all women-married, single and everything in-between.  A Band of Wives helps women bring community back to their communities in a variety of ways. She was CEO of one of the few women run, venture backed health and fitness companies, Axis Personal Trainers and Spa, in the nation for 8 years and president of a child-welfare foundation for 3 years.

Former Alameda Democratic County Central Committee

Darleen Brooks, a Civil Rights Officer for the Alameda County Social Services Agency, is responsible for investigating discrimination complaints filed by clients and employees of the agency.  Darleen has been involved in Oakland politics sine moving to the west coast. She is an East Oakland activist who works closely with the District 6 City Council member on a variety of issues and activities, including, but not limited to community development, crime prevention, resource fairs and town hall meetings.

Former Redwood City Housing and Human Concerns Committee

Denise Brosseau serves on the Redwood City Housing and Human Concerns Committee. She recently stepped down as CEO of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs (FWE), an organization she co-founded in 1993. She now serves as the Co-Chair of the National Board. FWE is the premier entrepreneurial organization for women building and leading high-growth technology and life science companies.

Vallejo City Council

In addition to being elected to the Vallejo City Council on her first run for political office in 2009, Marti has 10 years of project management experience in redevelopment and urban planning.
During Marti’s tenure on the Vallejo City Council, she successfully spearheaded bringing the first city-wide Participatory Budgeting (PB) process in the United States to the City of Vallejo (www.pbvallejo.org),  joining the Health Eating, Active Living (HEAL) Campaign, establishing a Community Benefits District Ordinance, removing Binding Interest Arbitration from the City Charter, launching the ‘Reinven

Melissa Brown Sladden is a Bay Area native, born in Oakland, California with roots in Danville and San Francisco as well.  Ms. Sladden is an attorney who has practiced civil litigation in San Francisco for over twelve years.  Ms. Sladden received herJuris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC where she received the Dean’s Certificate and Office of Public Interest Awards for her contributions to the law school and community at large.  Ms.

Kiyomi Burchill is Vice-Chair of the City of Sacramento Planning and Design Commission.  She is a past President of the Sacramento County Young Democrats, which she led to become one of the top three most active Democratic clubs in the Sacramento region and top three largest Young Democratic clubs in the state. 
An experienced public policy professional, Kiyomi was appointed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. as an Assistant Secretary at the California Health and Human Services Agency in December 2011.
